Liner notes
Blog singles

Since 2011 New Music United has filed one song at a time: a blog single is the track, a few lines, and the film. Five thousand and some are in the catalogue above, from 2011 to this morning, and every one of them still plays.

The sleeves

From 2026 each new single is cut as a sleeve: a photograph from the song’s own world, taken from the public collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Library of Congress; a catalogue number drawn from the date it was filed; and a fold-out PLAY tab that loads the film only when you pull it. The sleeves are numbered № NMU, year–month–day, with A and B when two are filed on one day.

Editions

Four tints so far — ink, oxblood, jade and violet — each a ground, an accent and a single colour laid over a photograph. Nothing is colourised by hand; the picture is turned grey and the edition is laid over it, the way a one-colour print is pulled.

The ten

New Music United is one of ten music blogs published from Berlin-Charlottenburg: ballet20, chambermusic20, classical20, electronic20, newjazzunited, newmusicunited, opera20, realdj, realvj and soundtrack20. The archive stays as it was filed; only the front and the new singles wear the sleeve.
