Thirty years ago Placebo hid a short keyboard piece called H.K. Farewell at the end of their first album. Helen Keller takes that melody as its foundation and builds a new rock song on it – haunted at the core, raw at the edges – named, as Brian Molko puts it, after “one of my favourite people from history.” It arrived on the day the band opened a 36-date anniversary tour in Portugal, playing only songs from their first two albums.
