The music on this ‘social music blog’ is discovered by music fans (not music journalists). The music is promoted by music fans (not record companies). The music is played/listened to by fans (not record shops).

We play tracks. Like a jukebox. We are music fans, who like to say: “You have to listen to this track! It’s absolutely fantastic!”. We love to discover new music and we love to find lost hits and songs, that never made it, but deserve another chance.

*** FIRST PUBLISHED JANUARY 13, 2011. ***

A music blog with new music and rediscovered recordings from the web published by Ronnie Rocket.

The concept of this blog is very simple, but very cool, indeed, if I may say so: I love to share my tips for music and spend a lot of my time buzzing and hyping new and rediscovered music every day. That is the simple part. Here comes the cool part: I have many friends from all over the world, who share my love for music. This blog collects the tips from their personal blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media services.

Please note that I always use official links, if possible. Music lovers want their artists to get payed. Some of the unoffical links, like on YouTube, do also get compensation, though. Put pressure on the publishing companies and record companies to free the music on the Internet enabling the Internet Services to pay out fair royalites. Blogs create turnover! Accelerating plays and creating new fans is good for business.

The importance of YouTube plays to artists’ PRS income can’t be underestimated – some 14 million YouTube plays accounted for a whole 40 percent of the total transactions PRS processed between July and September 2008. [Source]

The name New Music United was first used in the nineties in a marketing umbrella organization, that eventually folded. Reviving the name seemed fittingly since it signals several things about the vision for this music blog:

  • It is about brand new music, sometimes just hours old!
  • It is about discovering lost tracks and greatest hits and misses
  • It is about collecting music tips from fans in one place
  • It is about the love of music across all musical genres

I plan to update the blog daily. I hope you enjoy and will follow this blog in the future.

Also, leave comments — we love comments 🙂
