The second track on It’s the Long Goodbye, the sixth album from The Twilight Sad of Kilsyth, outside Glasgow – their first since 2019, out on Rock Action on March 27. The band describe it as a meditative but muscular look at the human condition: how we seem built to lose at so much of what we try, including at coping with loss itself. Andy MacFarlane produced the record at Battery Studios in London, and Robert Smith, whose Cure the band have long toured with, plays on it.

Words: James Alexander Graham; music: Andy MacFarlane. The Twilight Sad: James Alexander Graham, Andy MacFarlane, with Alex MacKay and David Jeans. Produced by Andy MacFarlane, with Andy Savours; mixed by Chris Coady. Recorded at Battery Studios, London, 2025. From It’s the Long Goodbye, Rock Action Records, 2026. Photograph: Thomas Annan, Close, No. 115 High Street, Glasgow, 1868–77. Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
