“When I Kissed The Teacher” opens Arrival, the album ABBA released in Sweden on October 11, 1976. Recorded in June that year under the working title “Rio de Janeiro”, it is Benny and Björn’s homage to the American girl-group pop of the early sixties – a classroom crush told at full tilt. The film comes from ABBA-dabba-dooo!!, the hour-long special Swedish Television shot while the album was being made: the four in gym clothes at a high school, Magnus Härenstam as the teacher. It went up two days before Arrival turned fifty.
Written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson; produced by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. From Arrival, Polar Music, 1976. Film from ABBA-dabba-dooo!!, Sveriges Television, first aired November 1976; directors Leonard Eek and Per Falkman.
