The Bullitts are the brainchild of British producer Jeymes Samuel, who has assembled an array of guests for the band’s forthcoming debut album, They Die Before Dawn, including Tori Amos, Roisin Murphy, Mos Def and Idris Elba. It’s been a long time coming; early teaser track Close Your Eyes (featuring rapper Jay Electronica and actor Lucy Liu, who narrates the album), emerged last December. First single Supercool is, according to Samuel, an “anthem for the civilian” and proof we’re all superheroes. It’s not exactly clear how this manifests in the lyrics, essentially just the line “you’re supercool” repeated, but the song is an intriguing mix of chunky keyboard lines, a pogoing beat and some short, sharp guitar riffs reminiscent of Echoes-era Rapture.
