Last year’s “Pumped Up Kicks” was one of the funnest summer jams of 2010, a gem worthy of comparisons to MGMT’s “Electric Feel” with its uber-feel good chorus and catchy lyrics. Finally, six months later, the Los Angeles outfit known as Foster The People have released its follow up: a shiny, synth indulged, electro-pop track that sounds little like the subtle hip hop percussion that occupied its predecessor. “Helena Beat” is assuredly another jovial pop anthem, sounding like Empire Of The Sun and Passion Pit thanks to Mark Foster’s endearing soprano.
