The first song from Soft Control, the tenth Afghan Whigs album, and track two on the record: a driving drum pattern and buzzing guitar that break into a full-throttle passage in the line of the Stones’ Heartbreaker and the Whigs’ own My Enemy. Greg Dulli made the album after years of working on his inner peace – the angry young man, by his own account, has found a quiet confidence, helped by photography and other art forms and by the realisation that he is not competing with anyone, not even himself.
Written by Greg Dulli. The Afghan Whigs, with guests including former drummer Patrick Keeler, Petra Haden and Bo Koster. Recorded at Fireside Sound, Joshua Tree; Marigny Studios, New Orleans; Gold Diggers Sound, Los Angeles; and Sycamore, Cincinnati – twenty-two songs, cut down to ten. From Soft Control, Royal Cream / BMG, August 21, 2026.
