Daniel Lanois – Puebla

Scroll down to content

This composition was started on my little red Heintzman piano in an empty room. I came upon a simple motif that took me back to my time living in Mexico, where a quiet timeless sense of melancholy descended upon the village in early evening, as if the soon come midnight might never end.

“Puebla” is a beautiful Mexican town that I traveled through on my way to Oaxaca.

It left an impression on me, and so I named this piece of music after that town.
