Tempest finds Dylan in similar-sounding territory as his last studio set, Together Through Life. As he’s wont to do, Dylan takes inspiration for the melody and structure from a couple of forebears in the blues, this time borrowing from well known recordings by Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley. But more importantly, instant-classic Dylan lines like this have whet our appetite for the album’s lyrical content: “They’re peddlers and they’re meddlers,” he sings. “They buy and they sell / They destroyed your city / They’ll destroy you as well.” [Source]
