Hibari Misora recorded 1,200 songs, and sold 68 million records. After she died, consumer demand for her recordings grew significantly, and by 2001 she had sold more than 80 million records.

Rough translation of the lyrics:

Alone in the bar drinking sake
I taste the tears of farewell
I want to throw away the face by drinking
(But) it will appear in my glass again
“I love to be alone”
I said to my heart (but) behind it I cry
People’s world/generation can’t be accompanied by love
With tears and jealousy I receive the night.
