Kenny Hawkes & Louise Carver – Play The Game (2002)

DJ and producer Kenny Hawkes has left us way too early. I met Kenny in 2004- what a charming dude! I’m so grateful he did allow me to remix his “Play The Game” song back then. It was a really important thing for me and a big pleasure to work with the beautiful vocal parts by Louise Carver. I’m so sorry to hear these news! My sympathies to Kenny’s family and friends. – Stefan Goldman

Farley Jackmaster Funk featuring Darryl Pandy – Love Can’t Turn Around (1986)

A cover of Isaac Hayes’ “I Can’t Turn Around”, this song more than any other introduced the general public outside of Chicago to the then emerging House sound.Considered a pop song in the U.K, reaching the top 10 on it’s release, it also introduced the world to the earth shaking vocals of Darryl Pandy. A series of copy cat releases swamped the British charts but none matched this for it’s quality or originality. An outstanding release that perhaps was never bettered.

Funkineven – Heartpound (2010)

Seriously rude wrigglin’ acid jams from London’s machine funk specialist, Funkineven. As the tenth release on the estimable Eglo records it keeps the label’s remit rooted, yet open to all possibilities with what must be their toughest two jams to date. ‘Heart Pound’ looks to Chi-town and LDN circa ’90 for inspiration, resulting in an anthemic acid jacker with future vintage vocals and KMS style rave signals. ‘Another Space’ is the one for us, lodging itself in that ’92 eternal zone with rugged hardcore stabs, Detroit-esque strings and superbly deft drum programming with a fair hint of early 4Hero. Honestly, this is quite untouchable right now. [Source]
